Personally, I find Oregon a thing of beauty. It’s anything but normal, so after I got hitched I looked for the most unusual destinations to set up my honeymoon. I really wanted to feel like a tourist, so I tried to search for the most off-beat place. Here are some of my favorites:
Climbing Mount Jefferson
My husband and I are avid mountaineers, and Oregon has a variety of mountain regions that one can explore. Dog mountain trail is perfect for beginners; although we’re daredevils and prefer Mount Jefferson. It’s very steep and challenging, but we truly enjoyed the experience. We cannot wait for winter to come to try out the routes on rough weather conditions!
Silver Falls State Park
It’s no wonder the locals call this place Oregon’s “crown jewel” of park systems – personally, I find it sublime. Silver Falls State Park is great offbeat location that made our honeymoon a dream come true. We loved the wealth of recreational opportunities available, natural beauty, and historic presence. Located at the foothills of Cascade Mountains, and only 1 hour away from Salem, the park is home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen in my life. Make sure to hop on the Trail of Ten Falls; a hiking area that descends into a beautiful winding creek! There are great camping spots nearby; as well as a playground and barbecue stands if you want your little honeymoon to really feel personal and alluring.
Cannon Beach
Moving from the top of the mountain to the beach, I do think Cannon Beach is the perfect travel destination for romantic honeymooners in Oregon. Famous for its sandy shores and peaceful vibes, this place exudes romance inside out. There’s Ecola State Park nearby; with sweeping views of the endless ocean, and the most surreal sunset. We stopped by Arcadia Beach as well; where we had a picnic and explored Hug Point with its secluded sea caves.
Portland – Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden
We’re already familiar with Portland’s famous Peninsula Park and International Rose test Garden, meaning I was convinced that Crystal Springs will blow my mind. We visited the garden in late spring; the 2,500+ rhododendrons and beautiful azaleas made our honeymoon memorable. At the entrance, we decided to go for the self-guided tour because we really wanted to spend some time alone and admire the wildlife at our own pace. Crystal Lake never looked better!
Northeast Portland Cliff – The Grotto
Spanning on 62 acres of lush gardens, The Grotto is a sheer sanctuary with a very unique aesthetic. The tranquil paths and carved Catholic shrines really made us honeymoon feel even more romantic. At Lower Level, the imposing cave has a very nice trekking trail we decided to explore. The art gallery displayed spectacular nativity scenes; and from the gift shop nearby we got ourselves some souvenirs that we will probably cherish for a lifetime. I was impressed by the soft choral music in the background; definitely a must-see for couples.
For an extra $6 we also went to visit the Upper Level of the grotto. The famous botanical garden at the peak overlooks Columbia River Valley, Mount Saint Helens, and Cascade Mountains; a scenery that will always have a special place in my heart. I’m not a fan of meditation, but we got to the Marilyn Moyer chapel, I somehow felt the need to gather my thoughts and just embrace the serenity.
Crazy jet charter experience from Portland to Eugene
Because I’ve always wanted to see Eugene in Oregon, we chosen an air charter service in the last minute, and went on a crazy trip to Eugene. I was pleasantly impressed by the wonders of the city. The mix of impressive museums, variety of parks, and historic allure really made our honeymoon special. My favorite spot was Mount Pisgah Arboretum; a vast area of hills and valleys with stunning farmlands and a very traditional yet welcoming vibe.
What’s not to like Oregon? We had the best honeymoon ever and we would come back to the places I mentioned above anytime. I’m sure there’s plenty more to explore, and we’ve already started making plans for next year.
By the time of their wedding, most grooms are already on par with moisturizing and cleaning techniques. They have a hairstyle in mind, and are all set for the big day. However, for some it’s not enough. Grooming goes beyond shaving and showering. From when to trim your beard to how far you should wait, to cutting your hair or not, to hiding a bad hangover, we’ve laid out some of the best tips to help you look like a million dollars on the day of your wedding. Have a closer look!
Wash up, drink up & and repeat
It might seem foolish, but you should wash your face daily the moment you get engaged. Don’t just use water and soap; buy yourself a good-quality cleanser and an exfoliator. These products will help your skin look perfect on the day of your wedding. But you need to use them properly.
It’s equally important to drink plenty of water throughout the day if you want your skin to glow. Water replenishes nutrients that your complexion needs to remain elastic and flawless. Aim at 8 glasses a day, and increase the amount to 10-12 glasses with at least 10 days before the wedding.
Seasonal skincare
Whether it’s summer or winter, the skin dries out when not properly taken care of. When your skin is affected by harsh weather conditions, zips and pimples emerge; more severe conditions can occur, such as redness and uneven spots. That’s not really something you need on your face days before the big day.
Sunscreen is vital. It prevents sun burns and intense redness that might ruin your wedding photographs. Moisturizing is equally important. It protects the skin from dryness, and replenishes hydration. Keep in mind that nourishing and moisturizing your skin is not a onetime thing; it should be done regularly, preferable every 2 days; and daily with a week before the wedding.
Choose the right grooming products
Now that you know why it’s so important to moisturize, move on to investing in the right products. Before investing in the next best face scrub that you’ve heard work miracles, due your due diligence. Ask at the pharmacy about ingredients and side-effects. Acne is a serious skin condition that might require an appointment to the dermatologist. Test your products before using them on your entire face; this helps you figure out if a product matches your complexion or not.
Practice the beard growth and styling
If you already have a beard and you’d like to restyle it, you should do a test with at least 6 months in advance. In case things go south, you’ll have plenty of time to let is grow back on. But if you’ve just decided to let your beard grow, you should ask for professional advice on how to style it. Only an expert hairdresser will be able to tell you what shape best suits your facial features.
Eyebrow grooming
Finely plucked eyebrows that make you look frowned or evil is not something you want to see in your wedding photographs. But then again, you also don’t want to see an angry unibrow. If you’re just getting started with eyebrow plucking, prepare for a little pain. You should only remove stray hairs that have nothing to do with your brows – the area between your eyes, and those extra hairs just above the eyelid. That’s about it. Don’t overdo it as you’ll end up looking weird and unnatural. If plucking seems too extreme, use a trimmer.
Hairstyle
Most men are used to using waxes and hair gels. However, for a softer, more gentle look, hairspray might be a better choice. The right products keep your hair looking natural; not to mention that it holds better, too. Test a few products before making your final pick, just see which one best matches with your scalp and hair type.
Looking and feeling confident on the day of your wedding is not something impossible to do. All you have to consider is proper grooming. Use the right primer for oily skin, and every week get a face mask to remove impurities and dead skin formed at the surface. Make an informed decision when doing your hair, and stick to a classic yet appealing style your future wife will adore.
Unless you are an event planner, your wedding may be the most complex project, and the biggest party you will ever plan. Your wedding, if prepared correctly will be the best party of your life. It will also be the most memorable day for you and your significant other. Your guests, however, will have attended and will continue to participate in weddings throughout the year. You want your wedding to be the one they remember even when they are old. An excellent way to make that day memorable is to create a personalized experience for each guest. They may not feel the joy you will be feeling because you are marrying the love of your life, but they may share the excitement and be happy for you because they felt great attending the wedding. You may be freaking out right now, but no, it will not cost you excessively to plan that wedding. There are simple ways to make your wedding memorable.
Keep your guests informed
One of the easiest way to ensure that your guests are entertained is by sharing your program with them. While they may love you to bits, they will be bored if they feel like they are just following the crowd with no knowledge of what is happening. This is the digital era, take advantage of it. Share your program with your guests on social media and have a printed copy of the program at the gate for anyone who did not see it on their social media pages. Include logistical information. No one likes being lost. Ensure that you have also included a dress code if any. The last thing you want is to make one of your guests feel out of place. You may also want to create a website dedicated to the day. This site may contain information about what will happen at what time and where. You may also want to include directions, shuttle bus services, parking restrictions and accurate information about the property the party will be hosted at such as rocky terrain.
Make your guests feel welcome
If you want to guests to feel that your party is the best they have ever attended, it is great to ensure that they feel welcome. Nothing says “welcome and thanks for coming” like welcome bags. Sure, it may be a lot of work assembling them, but they are worth it. If you will be doing some of these things yourself, a welcome bag includes a bottle of water, snacks and local specialties like wine or chocolate. You may also want to include a map or brochures for great places to visit in the locality. You should also include a personal letter from the couple expressing just how happy they are that the guests have left their busy schedules to attend the wedding. If your guests are few, then you might know what they like and don’t like so you may make their welcome bags more personal for them.
Make them comfortable
Everyone is usually very tense when they are visiting new locations. You want your guests to feel as comfortable as possible. Depending on where you are hosting the wedding, you may choose to have a welcome bar with non-alcoholic beverages. If you are hosting your wedding outside, you may want to have a bug repellant station. Bugs can be an issue that will keep your guests from enjoying the day. If you are hosting a beach wedding, have flip flops for your guests in case they did not carry their own.
Wedding reception
Wedding reception venues are not usually kids-friendly. However, you want the parents to have just as much fun as the singles in the wedding. An excellent way to help parents is by making sure their children are having a good time too. Kids love to explore and have fun. They may not have a concentration span as long as that of adults. So make sure there are fun things for children to do throughout your wedding and fun places for them to hang out and have fun during the reception party. You may employ people who will act as baby sitters for that day. You may even make it a sleepover party with cartoon and pizza!
You had the perfect wedding. If everything did not go as it should have then most of the things went as planned. Now you want to relax. It has been months of pressure and trying to get every detail right. You deserve a break. If you are planning your wedding as a couple or you want to surprise your lover with a great destination, why not spoil them with a luxurious honeymoon destination that will forever be imprinted in their mind. You do not want to plan your honeymoon just anywhere. The place you choose should be meaningful to you. After all, this will be the beginning of a great love story. Perhaps the first on many easy trips you will embark on together. As they say, first impressions are critical. If the first vacation you have together after marriage is not impressive, there are chances that your wife will never let you forget the terrible experiences she had. There are great places to go to especially for newlyweds. Places you will get to love and know each other. The beginning of your life together will be perfect, and the memories you make together not even death can take away.

Are you getting ready for an exciting blind date this Saturday evening? Do you want to know how you can look your best without spending 3 hours in front of the mirror? Some women don’t have time to do their makeup, whereas others are just no longer interested in putting all sorts of chemicals on their faces. The cosmetics industry has changed tremendously in the past 10 years. The trends have been completely altered to match with our complexions and personalities, and at this point all we want is to look incredible without making our faces look artificial. Here are some guidelines to help you have a killer blind date and make a good impression.
Choose comfortable, stylish clothes
One of the biggest challenges of a blind date – choosing the clothes. How do you make the right choice? The most important thing is that you feel comfortable. Think twice before deciding to wear heels, or a skirt that may seem too flashy. A casual, stylish outfit works the best. A white, simple shirt with a pair of A-line pants can work miracles. Go overboard with the accessories – you wouldn’t want to look to business-like.
Sleek, casual, loose hair
Getting ready for a first blind date starts with hair. Some men just don’t care about what you’re wearing from the neck down. But they might be interested in how your hair looks like. It’s fundamental that you keep things simple and natural. You don’t want to make the wrong impression. If you love curls, you can get them. But steer clear of that artificial curly look with perfect waves. Messy, playful waves might seem a lot better. Or go for a funky braid with a side-swept bangs. Whatever you do, just limit the use of too make hair products. All-natural works the best!
Make-up
As far as make-up is concerned, we don’t advise you to go over the top. Increasingly more men have started preferring women who wear all natural makeup. Too much foundation, striking eye shadow and red lips just don’t look appealing. Rather than use foundation, choose a light BB cream. Use an illuminator in the cheekbone area, some blush and nude tones for the eyes and lips.
As for eyebrows, you might want to keep things all natural, too. A fresh face that looks impeccable without too much make-up will make a better impression than a very striking one that’s just aiming to hide who you really are.
Accessories and perfume
Excessive perfume should be avoided at all costs on a first date. That’s because you can’t know for sure if your date will like the aroma. Maybe he’s not that into lavender and jasmine scents. Use a discreet perfume and you’ll have better chances to draw attention. As far as accessories are concerned, it might be a good idea to keep things on the down low. Just remember that it’s a blind date. Basically, you don’t know the person you’re talking to because you’ve never met. Wear elegant, discreet accessories. A thin golden necklace with a pendant, pearl earrings and maybe a watch should be enough.
Looking amazing on a first date doesn’t have to be that hard. The secret is to be yourself, and no pretend to be someone else. Act natural and let him uncover your personality. Natural makeup works best because your date will see the real you. Stay focused on quality products and you’ll have a lot to win. A beautiful and clean complexion without too much eyeshadow and primer is sexier than a smoky eye makeup that creates an illusion.
Last but not least, we must emphasize that going on a blind these days can be nerve-wracking. What if you get a pimple just before the big day? But if you learn to take good care of yourself and your body, everything will be ok. Beauty comes from within. Drink plenty of water to have a clean and smooth skin, and invest in natural foundation uk and organic make-up products to allow the skin to breathe. Be confident and trust that you’re beautiful – that’s the key to an amazing bling date with someone you really like.
